What is therapy like at Holdfast?
-
Welcome
I am so glad you are here, I know how hard it is to find a therapist, and how tender and vulnerable the process can be. I love working with people with complex trauma histories, attachment wounds, and childhood abuse, neglect, and loss. I believe that you deserve to live fully. It might feel impossible now, but you (yes you) have the power to heal, I have seen it over and over again.

What to expect
Modalities

I Specialize in...
Eldest Daughters & Other "do it all" Over Achievers
Eldest daughters (and those who fill that role in their family for whatever reason) often find themselves caring for others at expense of themselves but feeling trapped in a system that doesn't let them stop.
Therapists & Clergy
You are a caring professional. You love your job, it might even be a sacred calling, but you are beginning to notice the way it is wearing you thin, burning you out, and you worry how long you can go it alone. You don't have to, let's talk about how I can support you.
Peri/Post Menopause
It has been said that not all who wander are lost. Sometimes we simply need to explore! I love working with those at thresholds and transitions who are setting out on a life journey into change, especially peri and post menopause.
PTSD & Complex PTSD
You are move than what happened to you, but sometimes the hurts do not heal as they should and you find yourself trapped in repeating loops of trigger and reaction that steal your agency. But those loops can be rewritten and healing is possible.
"Knowing your own darkness is the best method for dealing with the darknesses of other people. One does not become enlightened by imagining figures of light, but by making the darkness conscious. The most terrifying thing is to accept oneself completely. Your visions will become clear only when you can look into your own heart. Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes."
C. G. Jung
I am deeply grateful for the insights of modern mental health research, and aware that the ancient wisdom of the heart and soul often take us places where the scientific method falters. For me therapy must, to be healthy, marry the ancient and the cutting edge: honoring both ancient wisdom ways, and the insights of neuroscience. Here EMDR dances with dream analysis, tarot cards invite us to hone our intuition and polyvagal theory informs our breathwork. Intrigued? Get started!
My training and background have prepared me to work with a variety of issues. But I love most working with women in midlife, who are tired of living for everyone else, as they process trauma, heal generations of broken relationship patterns, and reclaim their voice and power to build a life of meaning and purpose.
Because of my approach, I also see psychotherapy as a process of self care and growth, and especially enjoy working with individuals who would like to use therapy as a means of self-exploration.
If you are ready to experience the benefits of psychotherapy, tell your own story, and begin to build healthier relationships and a meaning filled life, reach out! I look forward to meeting you.
