Maybe you've been through a lot of therapists, and collected a lot of diagnosis but nothing has seemed to help for long. Maybe you can't relax, you find yourself trapped by fear, anxiety, or panic attacks. Perhaps you startle at every noise, are always aware of the moods of the people around you, and spend more time attending to the needs of others than to yourself. Life feels too tight, your body and brain often feel like they're going 200 MPH and you just can't slow down, but sometimes an exhausted numb cloud covers what should be joy or peace and that might be even worse. You no longer know who you are or who you want to be; you just know, things need to change but you've tried so hard and you always end up back here, feeling like this.
Welcome, you are in the right place. Here I welcome the whole of your experience, no editing, no filters, no shame. Our culture values action, certainty, power, and dominance in all things: including healing. But such lopsided concepts of healing leave us feeling as if we have failed, when truly we've only had half the tools we need, we have exiled whole parts of our being. At Holdfast we lean into mystery, rest, stillness, liminal space, vulnerability as strength, and the wondrous power of your nervous system to heal itself (really, click the button below if you want to learn more about that).
Be seen for who you are... not what happened to you.
Dream of who you might become...
Face your worst moments
reclaim your joy.
Meet your wise best self...
Meet your therapist...

I believe in your inherent power to heal and that you have the answers you need within you. Your own wisdom can be hard to hear among the noise of your past, traumatic experiences, the oppression of an unjust world, and the rising tide of anxiety in our society. I will work collaboratively with you to chart a path forward toward wholeness, healing, and growth. Together we will get to the root of what is standing in your way through practices like myth making, dream interpretation, learning new ways of relating, EMDR for trauma processing, and breathwork (both calming and activating).
I love to work with clients as they make deep meaning in their lives, and support you as you build a life based on your deepest values, heal your relationship with yourself, your loved ones, and this wondrous world. I treasure your uniqueness, I am in awe of your strength and wisdom. Yes, you. I love most working with women and nonbinary folk in their 30s, 40s, and 50s as they process their trauma, heal generations of broken relationship patterns, and reclaim their voice and power to build a life of meaning, joy, and purpose.
I celebrate LGBTQIA+ identity, center the experiences of black and indigenous people, and sit at the feet of my diverse clients from whom I learn daily.
I provide online therapy to clients located in the state of Washington. I am a licensed Mental Health Counseling Associate (MHCA.MC.70121598). I currently have openings for new clients.

You are so lucky to work with Jo! I have had the deep pleasure of knowing and collaborating with Jo for over 12 years. Her creativity, quick insight, and compassion make it easy to rest in her presence. I appreciate Jo's attention to the spiritual side of a person's healing - whether it is pulling tarot cards for insight or talking about your tradition's sacred stories - Jo is right there with you on your path.
